Apartment and amenities

Is there internet access in the apartment?
Yes, there is free high speed internet access in the apartment, WiFi as well as cable.

Is there a computer in the apartment?
No, but for incidental use you can borrow our laptop (with internet connection, free of charge).

Is breakfast included?
No, but there is a fully equipped kitchen in the apartment, and a supermarket around the corner (open daily until 10PM). Complimentary coffee, tea, sugar and creamer are present though.

Are towels and bed linen included?
Yes, both are included as well as some complimentary shampoo and soap.

Is there air conditioning in the apartment?
No, temperatures in summer are not that hot, during the day mostly between 18 and 25 degrees celcius and at night around 15 degrees. When it is really hot it is around 30 degrees celcius, this does not happen a lot and mostly only for a couple of days in a row.

Is cleaning included?
Yes, cleaning and change of bed linen and towels after every 2 to 4 nights, is included.

Is there a hair dryer in the apartment?
Yes.

Is there an iron and ironing board in the apartment?
Yes.

Is there a washing machine and/ or dryer available?
Yes, there is a washing machine and dryer available in a common room (shared use with the owners and possible other guests). Use of the washing machine (and soap) and dryer is free of charge.

Availability / Booking, payment, keys, check in/out

How can I check if the apartments are available?
You can check availability by entering your arival and departure date in the box on our reservations page.
If you are flexible with your dates you can also check the calendars of both apartments on reservations page to see if there is a suitable time frame available for you.

How can I make a reservation?
You can book the apartment of your choice online through the website on our reservations page. The reservation system is a secured system, which means it is safe to enter your credit card details. When you make an online reservation you will get an immediate confirmation by email automatically. Later we will also send you another email with detailed directions.

When do I pay?
We do not charge your card, it is only used as a guarantuee. You can pay when you arrive at the apartment. You can pay in cash or with a credit card (VISA/AMEX/Mastercard). If your reservation is over € 1000 we do ask for a deposit of 25%. In that case we will send you an email after you have made the reservation, asking you for the deposit and we will also explain how you can pay it.

How do I check in and get the keys?
We live in the same house as where the apartments are located. When booking you inform us about your arrival time and we will then make sure we are home at the moment you arrive. You can then just ring the doorbell and we will let you in, show you the apartment and give you the keys.

What time is check in and check out?
Check in
We expect you to arrive at the arrival time as you have informed us. If you arrive before 10AM we will expect you at 10AM as that is the time we open. You can then drop off your luggage. The apartment will be ready and available at 2PM the latest. (Maybe earlier, depending also on the departure time of previous guests).
Check out
Check out is at 11AM. If no new guests are arriving it may be possible to check out later. You can always leave your luggage with us for the rest of the day. We will then give you a key to the front door so you can pick up your luggage any time you like.

Location, setting and neighbourhood

Are the apartments located in the center of Amsterdam?
Yes, they are located in the center of the city, very close to the Dam Square. It really is a great location to see the rest of the city as alomost everything is at walking distance from the apartment.

Are both apartments located in the same building?
Yes, they are both located in the same canal house. We (the owners/hosts) live on the second floor, apartment Pearl is on the third floor and apartment Amber is located on the fourth floor. Please note that the apartments are only reachable by a traditional dutch canal house steep stairway.

Is there a supermarket in the area?
Yes, there is a large supermarket (Albert Heijn) at one minute walking distance. You can buy all the food you will need there, from bread and vegetables to cheese and wine. The supermarket is open 7 days a week until 10PM.

Where can we rent bicycles?
There is a bike rental (orange bike) directly next to us.

Where can we park our car?
It is possible to park your car on the street in close to the apartment. Please note that it is paid parking only in the center of Amsterdam (€ 5 per hour).

Parking alternatives:

1. A close by parking garage: (& 34 per 24 hours)

2. A cheaper solution is to park outside the center at a guarded parking place and then take the tram to the center, this costs about € 6 per 24 hours including 2 two way tickets for the tram to the central station.
